Juno beach pier
Project SHIELD is a multi-faceted program that provides conservation solutions to fishing piers, recreational boaters, beach-side hotels, snorkel and SCUBA operators, fishing charter operators, and beach access points, as well as pollution prevention projects. After spending time in critical sea turtle habitat around the world, staff realized that many of the issues faced by partners are greater than incidental capture alone.

The designation in 1944 of a namesake D-Day landing beach in Normandy, named for Juno Dawnay, a Canadian officer's wife, was purely coincidental.Ī pier was built in 1946 and the town was platted in 1948. As a sister settlement to the town of Jupiter to the north, the development was named, at some point in the nineteenth century, after Jupiter‘s wife, the ancient Roman goddess Juno.
